FAQ’s about Women’s Spring Study
Mondays March 14 – April 25
Who are these “mentors”?
We will be learning from Emily Jensen, Laura Wifler, Maggie Combs, Jill Savage, Kathy Kocke, Gloria Furman, Jodie Berndt, and more. And we’ll be learning from one another! In all this, as we listen to the voices of all these other moms, we do so with the intent to hear the Voice of the One who designed motherhood. We are seeking to get a richer understanding of God’s heart toward moms and all that goes into mothering.
Do I have to do anything to prepare for the study?
Yes! (And no.) Each week we will have a podcast, video, blog entry, and/or book chapter for you to listen to and/or read before coming to your group. Our aim is for these to take no more than an hour for you to complete. You will get so much more from the time if you’re able to do this. BUT if you’re not able to complete the prep work, you should come anyway! You’ll still benefit from listening to the discussion, and there will still be ways you can engage with the content.
How will I find/access the materials for the prep work?
You will receive a link to a google drive folder which will include links to videos, podcasts, and blog posts. It will also include PDF files for you to read–which you can do either on your phone/computer, or you can print off if you’d prefer a hard copy. Each week you will be provided ahead of time with the discussions questions for the week so you have a chance to process ahead of time if you desire. This format is different from anything we’ve done before, and we know it might feel a little intimidating. Please don’t let that hold you back! We will help you figure it out and will be available to troubleshoot any issues that might arise for you.
What if I can’t make it every week? (I have a few scheduling conflicts, and with where life is at right now I’m not sure I can commit to being there every week.)
While we believe you’ll get more from the study and be able to better connect with the women in your group if you can make it every week, this study is structured in such a way where you can easily just come to what you can without it being a problem.
What if I’m not a mom–why should I come?
Yes! If you’re not a mom, you still have a calling to “mother” others, and you also have the responsibility of coming alongside the moms in your life who need wisdom, encouragement, and support that we hope this study will equip you to give more effectively.
What if I’m a mom, but my kids are mostly out of the house at this point–why should I come?
Yes! No matter the age or stage of your own children, there are other children that you have the calling to “mother” and we hope you will find nuggets in this study to help you. AND if you’re a seasoned mom, we need your experiences and wisdom! Our younger moms need what you have to offer to the conversation!
What if I’m still not sure about this. Who can I talk to?
Reach out to anyone on the Women’s Ministry Team: Anna Anderson, Jill Mosher, Tonya Braun, Jeanette McNicol, or Amber Hudson
Where do I register? When is the deadline?
It would be REALLY helpful if you could register by March 4. But if you’re not able to meet that deadline and still want to be part of the study, contact Amber Hudson at araehudson@arae.com or 815.757.2425 and let her know you’re interested.
