One of the greatest challenges in our culture is taking time to stop and cease from our activities and just breathe. Many of us are in bondage to busyness, and we all need to consider where we might be called to create margin in our lives for God. In the Old Testament, Sabbath was given to the Israelites as a gift, and it is still a gift to us today. By neglecting time for rest and repose, we miss out on some of God’s greatest blessings. If you are weary, worn out, and exhausted; the concept of Sabbath will change your life.
As we look to make the most of a new year, we will explore this idea of Sabbath through a six-week study entitled “Breathe: Making Room for Sabbath” by Priscilla Shirer. The study will begin the week of Jan. 15 and conclude the week of Feb 19, 2023. This study will have a 30-minute video to listen/watch prior to each week’s study and a guided journal/study to accompany it (that will take approximately an hour to complete). You will get the most from the study if you can do both each week before study, but doing either one will enable you to be an active participant in the week’s discussion.
In order to help us choose the study days that will work best for those interested, we ask you to register by December 18 and indicate which days would be options for you to participate. This will allow us to schedule the groups and have a plan in place before the Christmas and New Year holidays.
